Playful Dog Sneaks Out of Her Yard and Ends Up Running in a Half-Marathon Race

xWhen April Hamlin let her bloodhound Ludivine outside to use the bathroom, she had no idea that her pup would be entering an Elkmont, Alabama half-marathon. After sneaking out of her home’s back garden, Ludivine began to wander around and came across the starting line just when the race was about to begin. Along with the other runners, the 2.5-year-old canine began to run the 13.1 mile course—though she did get distracted from time to time. “Every time I thought she had dropped off to go back home, I would hear her coming back up to me, and she would race past me up to the two leaders,” fellow racer Jim Clemens told Runner’s World. “She would run off to romp through streams and into yards to sniff around for a while.”

Despite her time on the sidelines, Ludivine ended up completing the race in seventh place with an impressive time of 1:32:56. They even gave her a medal for her participation and sent some snapshots to her human. “My first reaction was that I was embarrassed and worried that she had possibly gotten in the way of the other runners,” Hamlin explained. “She’s laid back and friendly, so I can’t believe she ran the whole half marathon because she’s actually really lazy.”xx xxx xxxx xxxxx xxxxxx xxxxxxx
