Dog Surfing at Jupiter Beach

About a dozen dogs traded in their leashes for life vests for the chance to ride the waves at Jupiter beach as part of a canine surfing competition to raise money for an animal rescue group. Proceeds from the surf event went to Big Dog Ranch Rescue (largest no-kill shelter in Florida) who came out in force with some of its homeless dogs searching for permanent families. These pups were a definite crowd favorite. For nearly two hours, groups of small, medium and large dogs took to blue surfboards as part of the first Dog Surfing Competition hosted by Ocean Magic Surf Shop in Jupiter. There was even a Special guest visit from Booker D. SurfDog, the east coast dog surfing champion, who gave some pointers to the beginners. Check out some photos of the action below…
